Critical thinking is used everyday no matter what avenue is used. When using your critical thinking skills you are able to analysis without bias any form of information. When watching television you are able to analysis the information that is presented to you. Following that initial analysis you are able to go deeper into research with the ability to view more information on the internet. This process of analyzing and going deeper has been a basic concert of critical thinking. http://www.criticalthinking.org/starting/index.cfm . No matter if you are using tradition written media or you’re putting a modern twist with television and internet resources. You are able to use good information and dismiss the bad information.

Some might say that the information provided from non tradition resources (i.e. Television and internet) are unreliable and carry heavy editing from “ Gatekeeper”. I would disagree with that statement with the addition of the internet for information it allow a critical thinker the ability to view a more diverse aspect of information. More people are able to see different perspectives with and easy way to publish. Unlike in the past when you could only be published by a company that thought your book was capable of making money. You can now create a Bog page, Web page and even comment on others post. AAdding valuable information to create an atmosphere conducive to critical thinking.

I do not see our society any time in the future burning books. It is important to our culture to have this information and be able to reproduce that information for everyone to share. Book burning is commonly associated with an attempt at censorship of an author or gives topic. http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/article.php?ModuleId=10005852 . Censorship is a topic that is important to Americans in modern society. It is a sensitive subject. Some people allow censorship to help insure that content they receive in proper and appropriate for viewing. While other refuse censorship and want only the purest information presented to them. These individual fear the thin line between censoring content and “Gate keeping”.

Overall we must keep a balance between tradition information and modern information providers. No matter how your information is provide one must be able to analysis and good deeper into your research. The most important think to keep in mind is our Critical Thinking skills.

"Those who know how work for those who know why."

The Human mind is a wonderful think it can be a very power tool and allows each person to be an individual. People use there brains everyday with countless intents and even more thought. No matter your "IQ" level you would still hope that your brain is functioning in some fashion ( fast or low/ hard or easy).

When first reading this statement I could not help to think of what my father once told me. You can give fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish he will eat for a life time. The knowledge in a topic is priceless, it can't be measured in dollars, awards or even degrees.

Other concepts that came to mind were my everyday work. When working as an apprentice to the Master you simply would do what is asked from you. No though whether this task could be done more effectively. You are simply there to do the work that is asked of you and nothing else. No matter what task is asked of you your task is to finish that task the way that you have been shown. Once you begin to "Master" certain skills you then have the ability and knowledge to think of the better more efficient ways that a task could be complete.

When this statement is being analyzed it is important to separate the two subjects. The Worker is a person that is able to complete a certain task when asked to do so. This subject could have a range of skills and knowledge that could be superior to that of his superiors. When do a specific task this person could be the best at what they do.

The next subjects could have allies that would fall under the lines of The Boss. The Boss is able to take and produce a task hoping to create and end result. This subject might not and be the most qualified person at completing a task but he is able to create a crew, with the knowledge that this crew is able to finish a task/ project more effectively then he could himself.

The Bosses that are able to know why are looked at great leaders. There leaders ship roll could be anything from a General of the Army to a Coach leading a basketball team. While coaching a team it is important to know what your rolls are of each player. Know what position each one players and how you are able to get the best out of each player. The players on the floor are able to have a skill set and ability to achieve a goal. That goal would not be accomplished without the leadership and knowledge of the Coach.

How does this relate to Critical Thinking?

When thinking about a topic/ task you should be able to think as a leader. Be aware of what the normal thought process is and try and think of a way for it to be done better. Attempt to use your senses that are not so common.

technology tranformation

In the article Marshall Mcluhan believed that technology was connected to culture. This concept is never been more true then in this day and age. With the advancement in everything from cell phones to televisions, people are able to communicate and be entertained like never before.

Having cell phone with down loadable movies we are able to entertain yourself just about anywhere. No longer do we have to set a time to watch a show or find the local theater times. We can watch movies from the palm of your hand. Allowing for endless possibilities for entertainment.

Having television that have Internet connection allows every day people to download and view endless content on the Internet, from the comfort of their couch. With that connection we are able to communicate with any persons around the world ( with out ridiculous costs and expenses.

These concepts and many others have allowed technology to change and create new and exciting cultures. With more technology coming out daily it is important that we try and not us our "rear view mirror" when utilizing these technologies.
