"Those who know how work for those who know why."
The Human mind is a wonderful think it can be a very power tool and allows each person to be an individual. People use there brains everyday with countless intents and even more thought. No matter your "IQ" level you would still hope that your brain is functioning in some fashion ( fast or low/ hard or easy).
When first reading this statement I could not help to think of what my father once told me. You can give fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish he will eat for a life time. The knowledge in a topic is priceless, it can't be measured in dollars, awards or even degrees.
Other concepts that came to mind were my everyday work. When working as an apprentice to the Master you simply would do what is asked from you. No though whether this task could be done more effectively. You are simply there to do the work that is asked of you and nothing else. No matter what task is asked of you your task is to finish that task the way that you have been shown. Once you begin to "Master" certain skills you then have the ability and knowledge to think of the better more efficient ways that a task could be complete.
When this statement is being analyzed it is important to separate the two subjects. The Worker is a person that is able to complete a certain task when asked to do so. This subject could have a range of skills and knowledge that could be superior to that of his superiors. When do a specific task this person could be the best at what they do.
The next subjects could have allies that would fall under the lines of The Boss. The Boss is able to take and produce a task hoping to create and end result. This subject might not and be the most qualified person at completing a task but he is able to create a crew, with the knowledge that this crew is able to finish a task/ project more effectively then he could himself.
The Bosses that are able to know why are looked at great leaders. There leaders ship roll could be anything from a General of the Army to a Coach leading a basketball team. While coaching a team it is important to know what your rolls are of each player. Know what position each one players and how you are able to get the best out of each player. The players on the floor are able to have a skill set and ability to achieve a goal. That goal would not be accomplished without the leadership and knowledge of the Coach.
How does this relate to Critical Thinking?
When thinking about a topic/ task you should be able to think as a leader. Be aware of what the normal thought process is and try and think of a way for it to be done better. Attempt to use your senses that are not so common.
